Come... fly to Egypt with me!!

Would you like to fly to Egypt for FREE?? It's quite simple, really. I just flew there last night, in fact. I went right over the Pyramids of Giza and then flew down the Nile through the great city of Cairo. Here is a picture I took of the Pyramids of Giza:

How is it that I did all this in just a matter of minutes for absolutely FREE?? Well, Google just released a nifty little program called Google Earth that allows you to fly around the world using nothing more than your personal computer and high speed internet! Just click on the link to download it for free! Once you do, you can type "Cairo, Egypt" into the search bar in Google Earth, and then click SEARCH. You'll then fly right to Cairo!! You can even set up a flight path so you start in Calgary, or wherever you're from, and fly to Egypt! If you want to check out the pyramids for yourself, the coordinates you need to enter into the search bar are: 29.978333N 31.136111E

There are lots of neat bells and whistles to this program, so if you have high speed internet, and a decent computer, check it out!!

The Adventure is About To Begin!

Well folks, I've finally confirmed my departure date! I will be flying From Calgary to Toronto on August 8th, then from Toronto to London. In London I will meet up with the other intern I will be working with. Her name is Heidi. She's an American. Other than that, I'm not sure how many guns she owns, or people she's killed, etc. I'll be sure to let you know more details after I meet her. Finally, after hanging out in London for a few hours, we will fly to Cairo. Woohoo!

While in Cairo, I will be living with an apparently 'nice' Dutch family. They speak English, but Dutch is their first language. Should be a fun experience. They have two sons, one of whom will be away at college (I'm stealing his room). Aaaannnd, I think that's about all I know about the VanSomethingorothers. I'll post a picture of my new family as soon as I meet them! Thats all for now.

A new generation of Islamic militants in Cairo?

Although I'm not in Egypt yet, I have been watching the news for that area of the world. Recently there have been a couple of bombings that have taken place inside the city of Cairo. Some people fear that these bombings may be evidence of a new generation of Islamic militants in this area. Please pray that there will be peace and safety in the city of Cairo. Feel free to read this article for more information regarding the recent bombings in Cairo.
